This unit is focused on appropriate vocabulary to describe elements of music.
Overview:
Consider this unit a building block, or foundation unit.
This unit contains video lectures presenting elements of music. Assessments on Blackboard test student’s ability to correctly identify the elements presented in the lectures.
Auxiliary materials in this unit include playlists for all the music used in the lectures for further exploration. Printable “cheat sheets” for the musical elements are also included for students to utilize when completing the other units in this course.
Learning Objectives:
Students will identify specific music elements as presented in assessments.
In all future units in this course, students will need to apply what they learned to identify and describe specific music elements in works they select.
Additionally, students will explain of how identified music elements contribute to personal aesthetic judgements.
